Prof. Callistus Tengan

Prof. Callistus Tengan is a distinguished academic, professional Quantity Surveyor, and researcher with over 20 years of experience in construction management, project delivery, and built environment education.

 

Prof. Tengan holds a PhD in Civil Engineering, MPhil in Construction Technology and BSc in Building Technology, with expertise in construction management, quantity surveying, contract administration, monitoring and evaluation and sustainable project performance. He is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor and an active member of the Ghana Institution of Surveyors (GhIS). His academic and professional background places him at the forefront of technical and professional education in Ghana’s construction sector.

 

Prof. Tengan is a prolific researcher and has published numerous journal articles and conference papers on topics including construction project monitoring and evaluation, sustainability, construction management, and stakeholder participation in infrastructure delivery. His work emphasises the use of local materials, cost efficiency, and environmental sustainability in construction.

 

Beyond academia, Prof. Tengan is a sought-after consultant and has provided technical advisory services in project monitoring, contract management, and construction auditing to public and private institutions. His consultancy experience greatly enriches the School’s engagement with industry and ensures that students receive practical, hands-on training.

 

As Dean, he is leading efforts to strengthen institutional collaborations, promote student-centred learning, and expand research capacity within the School. He is passionate about building a culture of professionalism, innovation, and ethical leadership among students and staff. Prof. Tengan’s vision is to position the School of Built Environment as a centre of excellence for applied research, technical skills training, and sustainable development in Ghana and West Africa.
